I really like what youre starting to do. The pattern of the glasses in the background in the first two photos is fun as well as the overlay of him in the first three. I think these are all on their way to being safe for not getting copyrighted. If you change the pattern of his outfit as well I think that would help or distorting him like you did in the last.
I love your iterations! However, I don't know that all of them are edited/destroyed enough that the photo is legal to use... it is still recognizable. I would say the most effective one is probably the one that looks like it has a nebula within the image. Super cool!!!
I like the variety of colors you are using and the direction each iteration is going. However, I think the icon might need to be destroyed a little more for it to bypass any legalities
